NEEDHAM, MA — More than 130 riders from New Hampshire will participate in this year's Pan-Mass Challenge bike-a-thon.

The goal of the 6,000-plus riders for 2022 is to raise $66 million for cancer research and patient care at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. One-hundred percent of the event's proceeds go to Dana-Farber. The event accounts for 55 percent of the Jimmy Fund's annual revenue.

Across 42 years, the Pan-Mass Challenge has raised $831 million — including $114 million during the past two years.

The 2022 event features 16 routes, from 25 to 210 miles. The routes cater to all levels of cycling and fundraising ability. Most participants ride to honor a family member or friend who has battled cancer while more than 800 riders and volunteers are survivors or patients.

"We're coming off of a record-breaking fundraising year for Dana-Farber, and we're thrilled to be 'back in the saddle' this summer, bringing our PMC community together for our first traditional PMC weekend since 2019 with our sights set on making an even bigger impact in the fight against cancer," Billy Starr, founder and executive director of the PMC, said. "We are so inspired by the dedication of our riders, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and community members throughout the last two challenging years and can't wait to see everyone on the road this August for the 43rd PMC."
