Kamala Harris inadvertently whipped up an online storm and left netizens divided after she bought cookware worth hundreds of dollars in Paris.

The vice president reportedly spent more than $500 on cookware at E Dehillerin, a cooking equipment store in the French capital earlier this month

Harris told reporters the cookware was bought ahead of Thanksgiving and called her husband Doug Emhoff her kitchen "apprentice."

The vice president had been on a diplomatic visit to France following the fallout over the military alliance between Australia, the U.K., and the U.S.

But, Harris was blasted by Republican and conservative Twitter users, with many complaining about the cost of the cookware, implying the vice president was out of touch with the struggles of many Americans.

The Republican Party Twitter account GOP blasted Harris for buying the pot in a November 27 post, adding: "While Americans are struggling to pay more than ever for the holidays, Kamala Harris is out buying a $375 pot."

Left-leaning users were, however, unimpressed with the Republican claims that Harris was out of touch with Americans because she spent hundreds of dollars on cookware and pointed to the wealth of the Trump family.

Political strategist Ana Navarro-Cárdenas branded Harris' critics as "hypocrites" and claimed the attacks were "manufactured."

She added: "Are you all seriously telling me hypocrites who support the very frugal Trumps, including Melania eating diamonds like it was spaghetti, are mad Kamala brought a copper pan?

"This really cannot be the Kamala manufactured scandal they pretend to be outraged about this week."

Vice President Kamala Harris would have to buy one Le Creuset pot a month for 27 years to equal one hush money payment to Stormy Daniels. Just saying.

Star Trek icon and LGBTQ+ community activist George Takei aimed a pointed jab at right-leaning Trump supporters in his defense of Harris.

In a tweet, Takei said: "Vice President Kamala Harris would have to buy one Le Creuset pot a month for 27 years to equal one hush money payment to Stormy Daniels. Just saying."

Takei's comments refer to the $130,000 payment to adult film actress Daniels, whose birth name is Stephanie Clifford, made by Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen during the 2016 presidential campaign.

Newsweek has contacted the White House for comment.

Vice President Harris is among the top contenders for the Democratic Party's 2024 presidential nomination should Joe Biden decide not to run again, according to a new poll.

But, she faces stiff competition from former first lady Michelle Obama who trails behind Harris by a small margin, according to the Hill-HarrisX poll conducted between November 18 to 19.
